The war with the Azael has left the people of Estes Valley weakened and isolated in their mountain retreat. Supplies of fuel and ammo are dangerously low and yet Neil bets most of what he has left on a gamble to find Jillybean, who was last seen in the forests of Missouri.

I love the author's writing style. He keeps me engaged and I have a hard time putting the books in this series down. My complaints about this series is that it's got so Jillybean focused. The entire book pretty much revolves around her, where in previous books all the characters played a part. The last two big scenes in this book seemed so over the top, even for Jillybeans character. After reading the synopsis of the next book it appears to be 100% Jillybean. Idk. I'll give it a shot I guess. They are suspenseful.Product details

I am still going to rate this book... Hence, I have not finished reading it, but I must say, I am enjoying reading it. Almost finished and I cannot wait to go into book 9, which I have already bought through . Jillybean is my favorite, favorite character. She is only 7 years old, well, by now, she may be 8 years old, but I must say, she is smarter and brave than most 7 - 8 years old. She is running the show and shows that she is brave and resilient.
If you have not read any of the Apocalypse books from Peter Meredith... you are missing out! Please STOP listening to loud hideous, dreadful and repulsive music and STOP having those plugs stuck in your ears all day... START READING A BOOK!!!!! It's good for you!!!!
as i stated before this is the very best this subgenre has to offer. it took some more time to get into; the valley stuff is less interesting and lets be honest..jilleybean is the star of this series ( with grey as a good second) and once the trip started it was back to our or at least my fav characters again.
and like always this book delivered and more..superb, heartpounding ..name it..its like a movie before your eyes with characters i have really become attached to.
everyone should do him or herself a favor and read this series!
Let me ask you a question....When is the last time you read a series of books that just kept on being awesome and the more you read the more you couldn't put them down?
It's been a while for me. i mean i am having trouble because i was reading these at work.... It is winter it is Alaska and we can't fly out a lot of the days but still....at work.
There were times i openly cheered, Loud . Scared the crap out of my partner and crew. He he.
And times i had tears in my eyes, times i was revolted at what i was reading and had to remind myself that people actually do/have done those terrible kinds of things to each other in past. And there are those out there that would again given the right change in society.
Just finished this book and can not wait for #9. I dig this guy and these books. I highly recommend them. Unless you are a nancy, then maybe pass...
I love this series and it's characters, especially the indomitable Jillybean! I'm glad we get to spend quality time with some of my other favorites- Neil and Mister Captain Gray Sir ) The action is edge-of-the-seat fantastic, so don't start reading this book late in the day or you will stay up all night to finish it like I did!
Note that you should read the short story about Jillybean and the Witch before this if you can--there are a few references to it and it's a great story.
I'm so excited for the Audible version of this book to be released and for the next book in the series!
Talk about an action packed story! Peter's creativity in his storytelling grabs your attention and doesn't let go. This story not only packs a punch with the descriptive action scenes, it also grabs you emotionally. You're scared for the characters one minute, amazed by a little girls intellect the next, gripped by the action of not only fighting the undead monsters but the living human monsters... You experience the fear, the struggle for integrity, the will to fight and live and the ability to love. Just about all the bases of human emotions are covered! His characters are not only vividly described, but they are believable and you can feel that connection... And Jillybean... I love this character. One moment I am laughing at how cute she is with her Jillybeanisms of "that's what means... being ascared... splosions..." and the next moment I just want to hug her. She is such a memorable character; In fact, of the hundreds of books I've read, I believe she is my favorite character.
I hardly ever leave feedback on the Books, however I just finished the Undead World Series (1-7) in 30 days! Peter Meredith does an amazing job telling the story of the infection and leaves you on the edge of your seat time and time again.
After finishing with The Remaining by DJ Molles, I was certain I wouldn't find a better book about the Apocalypse. Well, after a few crappy purchases I deiceded to give this series a try - if you like deep character development, action packed story, this is for you. The violence was a bit harsh and graphic at times, but it fits within the context of the story.
I found myself watching less Movies and when I had free time and was home form work, I was reading more than anything else. That's how good this series is. I fell in love with some of the characters and I think Jillybean is by far the most amazing character ever created in a book.
Along with her, Grey, Neil, Saddie and a few others were the only force of good in a world gone mad. You will come to feel like these are part of your family.
Again, I am not much of a feedback writer, but I am taking the time to tell you this was an AMAZING series and worth every penny. Thank you Peter!
Peter Meredith is one of the best things I've run across since I ran out of every other writers books long ago! I've stumbled through a few years and about given up hope on finding another ""GOOD"" writer, well the wait is finally OVER, without a doubt Peter Meredith IS the best writer I've read in along time!my hats off to you bro, I wish like hell you and I could sit down and have a beer together. My being disabled sucks but you have breathed new hope into me. And you have to keep them coming! And if your anywhere close please please make an ol'man happy and have that beer with me, the doors always open for you!!!
