I heard about this book and I did a search on Kindle for it. Problem was I mis-remembered the title as being Coming Home not Going Home, so I couldn’t find it of course, until I put in the author’s name, Carole McKee. I didn’t think too much about it until I got into the book and realized it wasn’t about Cassie, the protagonist being welcomed after being gone for 15 years, back into the warm embrace of her loving brothers after her father passes on.
Oh no. Going Home is different. It means going back, right? Back to where the relatives hardly seemed to miss you. There is something else going on here, like why doesn’t Cassie want to go home? And why did she rush off in the middle of the night, just after graduating from high school, not telling her parents or anybody where she was going? Was it Rudy, her almost boyfriend that made her leave? These questions and more will be answered in this wonderful story. Highly recommended to anyone with a heart that needs a little exercising.

Going Home edition by Carole McKee Diane Kennedy Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

I was emotionally involved in this book when poor Cassie showed up at Rudy's house as a young girl, and he stood her up--so she thought for 15 years. Maybe I'm pregnant and over emotional, but I cried. Thankfully, McKee didn't write a heart wrencher where the two main characters are torn apart, because soon the happy ending just gets better and better and better.
Wow! That's all I can say. I'm a guy that's not normally into the Romantic comedy/drama genre but I literally couldn't put this book down. What a great read. I highly recommend it to both male and female readers. It has an emotional rollercoaster that ends with a satisfying conclusion.
Despite the cliche “you should never judge a book by it’s cover” this time I did. The image of woman with a longing gaze “Going Home” drew me in ... and the story line that followed the book’s front cover kept me reading non-stop from start to end. The moral offered at the book’s satisfying ending is when you believe everything happens for a reason, faith is never wasted.
The protagonist in Carole McKee’s Going Home an independent minded girl named Cassie. Despite the naysayers in her life, she holds on to one belief -- a belief in herself. Cassie's path in life led to many successes, though it did cost her a fulfilling relationship with her family back home. Going Home for Cassie was not out of want, but it turned into an opportunity to mend long lingering hurt feelings. In an honest portrayal with true-to-life characters, the author doesn't make it that easy for Cassie. And Going Home ends up being a story many readers will be able to relate to.
The story was just too unbelievable. Girl flees her family and town for fifteen years because of <spoiler>mean remarks</spoiler> Boy and girl have one "date" and are in love instantly and stay that way for years. I won't even go into the rest of the plot.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I found most of it absolutely riveting and couldn't put it down. It was very entertaining, and I enjoyed the fact that Cassie was a winner despite the many challenges she had faced.
Will Cassie find true love with her high-school crush, Rudy? Or will lies from the past continue to keep them apart fifteen years later?

When Cassie returns home for her father's memorial service, she's forced to confront not only her estranged brothers, but also a painful memory that drove her from her hometown right after graduation. When she sees Rudy again, the humiliation comes rushing back to her. Rudy never understood why Cassie ran off--but he's determined to uncover the reason, especially since he cared for her. The depth of the deception goes far beyond what either of them realizes...and culminates in betrayal.

Without giving away too much of the plot, this story delivers on the "Happily Ever After" and then some!
